SEYMOUR DUNCANSeymour W. Duncan spent the late 1960s and early '70s studying vintage guitar construction and pickup winding under mentors like Seth Lover (the inventor of the humbucker) and Les Paul. After working at London’s Fender Soundhouse—where he famously modified a Telecaster for Jeff Beck—Duncan moved back to California to set up a custom pickup rewinding and repair shop.
That shop grew into a global standard for guitar tone. Seymour Duncan pioneered the concept of aftermarket pickup replacement, allowing musicians to swap out stock guitar pickups to completely redefine their instrument's output, EQ curve, and character.
